How It Started…

Bev Sidders came to us as the Skin Clinic of Virginia β€” a Charlottesville, Virginia-based skin care brand that not only sold products, but also provided skin care services. Bev, the owner, was a ready for a shift in her business. The pandemic had made her realize how unsustainable in-person treatments were for her in the long term and her goal was to move out of Virginia, so we needed to remove any location-specific information from the brand name.

With a full rebrand on the horizon, it was clear that some strategy work was needed as well.

Rebranding with a Focus on Growth

Right off the bat, we knew Bev’s branding needed to be clean and bright. Bev herself is very science-focused, so we were looking for a no-frills brand that evoked sophistication and confidence.

Our lead designer opted for a wordmark icon for Bev’s primary logo. The font used is an unassuming but elegant sans serif font with a modern shape and contrasting lines. It is simple and classic, yet still contemporary.

The color palette feels fresh, organic, and lively, and though it uses a wide range of colors, it is grounded with a few muted tones to help it feel refined and mature.

We chose this palette to communicate that Bev Sidders Skincare is trustworthy, value-rich, personal, and backed by substance.

We are familiar with the multitude of places and ways that a brand might show up. One of the main placements we keep in mind is social media, which is why we always include social media cover images with our branding packages. We also provide avatars as well so that social profiles feel consistent with websites, packaging and any other application of a brand.

Label Design & Product Photography

Designing quality labels is all about attention to detail β€” a fraction of a centimeter can make a huge difference in a label layout.

Bev white labels her products so our team coordinated with the company that makes her products in order to ensure our labels not only looked on-brand for Bev but were also compliant.

Having a consistent user experience doesn’t end when a user leaves your site or social β€” it carries through to every touchpoint they have with your brand.

Of course, Bev’s rebrand wasn’t complete without branded photography. We recruited Taylor of Taylor B Photographie to capture the clean, modern essence of Bev’s products.

With a detailed shot list and inspiration board, Taylor was able to help us set the brand’s tone. The result is a library of images that Bev will be able to use for years to come.

A Website Transfer to Shopify

When she came to us, Bev’s website was built on Squarespace, which is typically our preferred platform, except when it comes to e-commerce brands. We recommended that Bev move over to Shopify instead, since it is more e-commerce-focused and we knew the capabilities were better suited for helping Bev achieve her goal of increased sales.

We updated the layout of the site to make it easier for users to navigate and we included functionality that helps increase order size (such as suggested products).

We almost always suggest Shopify for e-commerce brands, since it is so sales-centric.

Bev Sidders Skincare on Social Media

After the visual branding was complete for Bev Sidders Skincare, we wanted to create social media templates that would help streamline the process of social media content creation, no matter who was making the content.

Our lead designer created 3 different templates that highlight Bev’s products and expertise in her industry as well as create a branded environment for her social media content to live.

We were thrilled to take over the management of Bev’s social. We put the content and social media strategy and the social media templates to use creating Facebook and Instagram content that helps people get to know Bev and her brand.

After taking over her social media, we have grown Bev’s overall community by roughly 40%, we have set up shoppable Instagram posts and helped Bev get an average engagement rate of 8.38% on Instagram and 9.98% on Facebook.
